Meet the Doctors
Paul M. Theisen, D.C.
I am from the great state of Iowa, home of the Hawkeyes and Palmer College of Chiropractic. I grew up playing many sports, including baseball, which I continued on into college. While at Loras College I majored in Sports Medicine and was a trainer for various athletes.
My first contact with chiropractic was after I injured my shoulder in baseball. I learned very quickly that the conservative and natural method was going to keep me in the game. Drugs or surgery would have kept me from playing from baseball and injured my body in the long run.
After graduating from Loras College in 1994, I enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic. Not only did I learn about the wonders of Chiropractic, but I also met my wonderful wife Dr. Tara Hulsebus-Theisen. Tara was also a Palmer Chiropractic student at the time and a soon to be 3rd generation of chiropractors. The 2nd was her father, Dr. Roger Hulsebus. Wow!! What a mentor to have for my profession.
My wife, Dr. Tara, and I moved to Freeport in October of 1998 and had a son Brock in July of 2001 and a daughter Ava in August 2006. Who knows possibly a couple of 4th generation chiropractors? Our family enjoys spending time with friends and the community. Freeport has a lot to offer, I am glad that we may call Freeport our home.

Jamie L. Hammersland, D.C.
I am originally from Festina, a small farming community in Northeast Iowa. Growing up, I was very active in sports and the outdoors. I attended the University of Northern Iowa, where I majored in Pre-Med/Biology. At UNI, I was a member of the Pre-Chiropractic Club and participated in many intramural sports.
After graduating from UNI in the spring of 2003, I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic. While at Palmer, I had the opportunity to travel to Madagascar in the summer of 2006 with the Student Clinic Abroad Program. I spent over 2 weeks introducing chiropractic to the people of Madagascar and provided care to a large volume of patients. It was an incredible experience and hopefully someday I will be able to return.
I had my first contact with chiropractic when I was 3 weeks old. My parents have taken me to see a chiropractor throughout my whole life and they continue to keep up the care. I have had many injuries while participating in high school football and other sports. Chiropractic and rehab allowed me get back to the playing field much quicker. Through these experiences, sports injuries and family care have become my primary focus.
In October of 2003, I married my high school sweetheart, Amy. We resided in Davenport until we moved to Freeport in February of 2007. We also have a son, Owen Lee born July 2008. We are looking forward to serving the community and making this a place we call home.
